Outdoor Summer Professional Learning Opportunities with Shedd Aquarium

Educator Expedition: Science and History on the Chicago Riverhttps://www.sheddaquarium.org/educators/teacher-professional-development/educator-expedition-science-and-history-on-the-chicago-river
Authentic cross-curricular lessons in nature are hard to come by! This day-long, in-nature workshop will give educators the tools and background needed to make impactful connections with their students. Educators will start by exploring the Chicago Maritime Museum to learn about the environmental history of the Chicago River and Bubbly Creek. Then we will hop into kayaks for 1.5-2 hours of paddling on Bubbly Creek and the South Branch of the Chicago River to practice various scientific procedures and tour the floating wetlands – a unique ecological restoration technique being implemented in the region through the Chicago River South Branch Initiativehttps://www.sheddaquarium.org/southbranch.
