Remember that each theme below includes a teacher lesson plan and pre/post-lessons for each grade band that are Google Classroom compatible. The programs all include a Q&A session with animal care staff, are aligned to NGSS and Amplify Science, and provide many opportunities to look nature in the eye!

Explore the diverse habitats of the Amazon Rainforest, both on land and underwater. Observe animals that fly, swim and crawl as you discover what animals need to survive in the largest river basin on Earth.

Join us inside the penguin habitat to observe these charismatic birds, learn about their unique cycles and behaviors, and witness them fly through the water.
(Aligned Grade Bands: K-2, 3-5, 6-8)

Sharks at Sheddhttps://www.sheddaquarium.org/programs-and-events/virtual-field-trip-sharks-at-shedd
Witness how Shedd staff members care for sharks: feeding them, cleaning their habitat and collecting their eggs. Students will also design a shark ID tag and calculate how much sharks eat.

Students observe alongside Shedd’s animal care staff as they interpret X-rays, vital signs and behavior to assess an animal’s health.
